Father Muller Medical College is a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, a Registered Society sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore; a Religious Minority Educational Institution established primarily for the benefit of the members of the Christian Community.The Postgraduate program was started in 1991; to begin with MD and DVD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology. Subsequently several other Medical Postgraduate Degree and Diploma courses came into existence. Father Muller Homoeopathic medical College is unit of the pioneering Father Muller Charitable Institutions, (FMCI) founded by Rev Fr Augustus Muller, a German Jesuit missionary. Fr Muller was the grandson of Mr. Augustus Muller who was the school teacher of Dr Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy. No wonder Fr Muller fell in love with Homoeopathy and popularized it in Mangalore and other parts of the country. Father Muller Charitable Institutions had its humble beginning in the Kankanady Hill as a small dispensary in 1880, called the Homoeopathic Poor Dispensary. Father Muller was the first Indian Repertorian and also has authored many Homoeopathic books.

The college offers a four-and-a-half-year MBBS course affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with a one-year compulsory rotating internship. There are 150 seats: 40% admissions are through a state level CET, 40% through the COMED-K entrance test, 15% through the NRI quota and 5% through the Management discretionary quota. The college offers courses in B.P.T. (Bachelors in Physiotherapy), B.Sc. M.L.T. (Medical Laboratory Technology), B.A.S.L.P. (Bachelor in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology) and B.Sc. Radiography. Postgraduate degree (MD/MS) and diploma in specialties which include Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Radio-diagnosis, Psychiatry and Pathology and Master's Degree (M.Sc) in Hospital Administration. Seats can be quite expensive costing about 60 lakhs for MBBS and over 1.5 crore for post grad seats
