Tool Design Course Introduction
The process of developing the tools for industry and the planning of the material and equipment to be used to make them and the process is known as tool design. Tool designing is the process to design individual or multiple bordered machines cutting tools like machine cutters, drills, related hooks, dies, and fixing object. Tool design & inventing quality of the group are fundamentals to its ability to provide full system solutions. Tool Designing is vital to the Manufacturing Industry. The basis for Product Design is tooling. The CAD Drafting and Tool Design plan focuses on the use of CAD in product drawing, dies of metal stamping, shapes of plastic procedures and jig, repair and gauge Design. Tool Designers utilize their knowledge and skills of mechanics and structures to the design or modification of the tools.
The general tool producing operations are:
Nature of the Work:
In Manufacturing Industry the tool designers are the extremely experienced workers. These workers develop and repair tools, dies, holding devices. They work in manufacturing plants that produce tools .The tool designers work from drawings, sketches, planning sheets, and other engineering and shop data. Tool designers work in the departments of large manufacturing plants. They generally share their work place with drafters or other engineering technicians.
The job of tool design includes stress, diversions, increased temperature, dimensional margins, or other engineering data. This work expects complete knowledge of shop procedures and the features of the material from which tools are made. Designers should also be aware about output and inspection process. Tool designers involve different types of machine tools and performance measuring instruments in their work. They should also recognized properties of machines, such as resistant and heat tolerance of common metals like alloys, plastics, ceramics, and other composite materials.
Career Prospects (Jobs in Tool Design):
The job of the tool designers varies from firm to firm. In some firms the position is filled by experienced and hard working tool makers. Generally the position is filled by a mechanical engineer, who works with a staff of engineering technicians.
Career in Tool Deigning is expected to flourish. Excellent job possibility is awaited as there are many openings due to workers retiring or leaving the occupation. The number of workers trained in this occupation is expected to continue to be fewer than the number of openings created each year.
Below listed various opportunities for the tool designers:
AutoCAD Eletromechanical Drafter
Design Director, Equipment, Gear & Tools
